Alot of porn/xxx sites these days are flash based (rtmp, swf, etc)..and are quite EASY to record with just the click of ONE button

Anyways, after doing research for a few members of this site (who will go un-named), I found that pretty much ALL of these streams can be recorded using Replay Media Catcher

Anyways, a bit more info from their site:

Download Streaming FLV Videos with One Click!

Just open Replay Media Catcher, click "Start Recording", then play the videos you want to capture. The file you play is saved and tagged automatically.

The Ultimate FLV & MP3 Capture Tool

* Record all kinds of FLV format Flash Videos.
* Capture streaming MP3 files.
* Automatically names songs and video files.
* One click recording.
* MP3 tag editor.
* Works great for hard-to-capture sites using RTMP protocol.
* Free Trial!
* No Spyware. No Viruses. 100% Guaranteed.

Anyways, try it for FREE by clicking here: Replay Media Catcher

Oh, this works GREAT on sites like www.xnxx.com, www.tube8.com and many many more!

Haha, worry not "steve"..I tested both of those sites with Replay Media Catcher and it worked like a charm. Download the free demo HERE, and enjoy! :-) (Oh, you can also record youtube videos 100% free with the demo)

would it be possible to record a stream just by providing the rtmp address and not going to the actual page?

Good question, and yes..actually.

Here's the trick, as of now, this is only possible (that i'm aware of) with WMR 12.1.

The good news is, they recently updated their software allowing you to record many rtmp streams, BUT you cant record as many as some other programs might let you.

There are a few ways to do this:

First of all, I would recommend downloading the demo and testing it to make sure it meets your expectations. The only difference between the demo and the full is the demo has a maximum of 2 minutes of recording time for each recording.

You can download the demo from:

http://www.wmrecorder.com/demo.htm

At any rate, he's what you do. :-)

1. Known URL Recording

Paste the URL in the URL box on the main screen. Enter a file name (say Video.wmv) in the File box. Click Record.

The recording window (black) opens (if not click Status) and recording begins. While recording goes on click PREVIEW on the main blue screen, then click "Play Recording Channel 0". This plays the actual recorded file from your computer.

Close the recording window when finished recording.

2. Recording a saved URL(If you already watched it before, it's in your history making this possible and easy)

Open View / Saved Links / Windows Media. The URL that you just played should have been captured and be displayed. Double click the URL to record.

5. Record and capture URL from Windows Media Player (PRO mode)

Anyways, check out the demo, and Let me know if this does the trick for you!

Thanks, MediaGuru!

I already have a demo installed, but still this is not the perfect tool.

I need a solution that can record video from streams automatically, say several thousand rtmp urls one after another.

The perfect tool would be a console application under linux, I haven't seen any of those though.

Thanks again for the advise.

Yeah that's tough unfortunately. The most i've seen is 50, which if you ask me is still pretty good, just not in the thousands. Drool

Take care
