What do you guys think is the best software for recording webcams?

I've got to say, i prefer Replay A.V for it's ease of use and many other options.

It's pretty much a jack of all trades, and I highly Recommend it.

Also, another program that's VERY easy to use is Replay ScreenCast.

You can try it for free as well, it's a bit cheaper, but also has a few less features.

It pretty much allows you to record ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING you see on your screen. You can use arrows to specify an area on your screen you want to record, or you can just record the whole screen!

Some things it allows you to do are:
* Make software and Web site demos and tutorials.
* Add Audio Narration to any video.
* Turn Powerpoint presentations into movies.
* Record Video Instant Messenger sessions.
* Make videos from Webcams.
* Record Webcasts.
* And more!

So, with the two choices presented, I'd have to say if your'e JUST looking to record webcams, and things you see/hear on your screen, Screencast would be the way to go.

BUT, if you're looking to record webcams and pretty much everything ELSE too, I'd HIGHLY recomend Replay AV

Both are great programs, depending on your other needs, you really can't go wrong with either one!

Hey good post, yeah i've used Replay Screen Cast before and it's great, I use it about once a week to record some yahoo webcam chats I have with my girlfriend back east, and to record *ahem* some music videos off yahoo as well. Shhh

Thanks for posting this, I might have to check out that replay program for some of my podcasting stuff...glad you mentioned it...

Hey once again thanks for mentioning this. We do some podcasting with the set of Macs we have here and i think it would be quite useful to have something like this for "borrowing" online content that we can't download so easily.

Cool, indeed it would....just so you know, I'm not 100% sure if these programs work with the mac os, as they're generally made for windows machines. I THINK you'd need to be running windows via your mac, so make sure you try the free demo before you buy, just to make sure! I don't know any mac specific software off top of my head for this, but I can look into it if ya like...
